New Delhi, Sep 15 (V7N) – Diesel exports from India to Bangladesh will continue without any disruptions, confirmed Oil India Chairman and Managing Director Ranjit Rath during a post-AGM press briefing. Despite political challenges, the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline is fully operational, Rath assured, according to NDTV.

Additionally, equipment deliveries for Bangladesh’s refinery project are ongoing, with the company ensuring the diesel supply via an established letter of credit.

The Assam-based Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. (NRL), a subsidiary of Oil India, exports between 6,000 to 7,000 metric tonnes of diesel monthly to Bangladesh through a 131-kilometer pipeline ending in Parbatipur. This pipeline, inaugurated last March, has the capacity to transport one million tonnes of diesel annually.

NRL is also working on increasing its refining capacity from 3 million tonnes per annum to 9 million tonnes, with construction expected to be completed by December 2025. Full operation is anticipated by March 2027.

Rath further highlighted the company’s growing alternative energy portfolio, including setting up India’s first biofuel refinery, expected to produce ethanol using bamboo feedstock. The refinery is set to start production by the end of this month.
