Dhaka, Nov 24 (V7N) – Students from over 35 colleges staged a demonstration in front of Dhaka National Medical College and Hospital (DNMCH) in Old Dhaka on Sunday, demanding justice for the death of a Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) student and action against alleged attackers.

The protest began around 1 PM as part of a previously announced program. Students blocked the hospital's main gate, vandalized its nameplate, and broke through police barricades at Murgitola and Ray Shaheb Bazar earlier in the day.

Allegations of Negligence

Abhijit Halder, a DMRC student, was admitted to DNMCH’s medicine department on November 16 with dengue fever. However, he passed away two days later, sparking accusations of medical negligence.

Following his death, students staged protests on Wednesday and Thursday, accusing DNMCH of negligence and demanding accountability.

Reports of Attacks

Protesters claimed that on previous protest days, students from Kabi Nazrul and Suhrawardy Colleges, along with activists from an opposition student wing, attacked them.

The demonstrators vowed to continue their movement until justice is served.
