However, the father was sadly unable to help his oldest daughter, a BUET second-year student in the mechanical engineering department.

At their rural home Jhiltuli in Faridpur headquarters, where a somber mood has been prevailing since the news of Lamisha's death was received, her paternal uncle Rafiqul Asam Sumon relayed this.

Sumon said that on Thursday night, Lamisha and her friends visited Boi Mela and then proceeded to the restaurant for supper.

Lamisha contacted her father when the fire started and pleaded, "Baba (father), I am trapped, save me," at which point they stopped speaking. Her family had tried to reach her many times, but her phone was discovered turned off, according to her uncle.

Around 10:45 a.m., Lamisha's body was transported to their village, Jhiltuli's residence. The sounds of family members and relatives weeping filled the air. After Jumma prayers and a Namaz-e-Janaza at the town's Chawkbazar Jame Mosque, she was laid to rest in the Alipur Graveyard.
