Ashulia, May 19 (V7N) – A fire broke out in a parked passenger bus of Labbaik Paribahan in Ashulia's Chandraganj Lane, opposite the new DEPZ on the Nabinagar-Chandra Highway, around midnight on Sunday (May 18). Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after a 20-minute effort.
According to the Fire Service, the incident occurred when the bus was temporarily parked and unattended. The helper had reportedly left to buy a mosquito coil. Upon returning, he found the bus engulfed in flames.
A unit from the DEPZ Fire Station responded promptly after being notified at 11:58 PM, and successfully doused the fire.
Senior Station Officer Pranab Chowdhury said, “The fire was brought under control swiftly, but preliminary estimates suggest the damage amounts to approximately Tk 3 lakh. While it is suspected that a cigarette thrown by a passerby might have ignited the fire, the exact cause will be determined following a detailed investigation.”
No casualties were reported in the incident.
