Dhaka, Sep 20 (V7N) – Three officers of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), including Assistant Commissioner (AC) AKM Mehedi Hasan of Mohammadpur Zone under Tejgaon Division, have been withdrawn on charges of negligence in duty.

The other two officers are Mohammadpur Zone Inspector (Operations) Abdul Alim and Duty Officer SI Masudur Rahman.

DMP Additional Commissioner (Operations) SN Nazrul Islam visited Mohammadpur Police Station on Friday afternoon and ordered their withdrawal after finding them absent from field duties.

According to DMP sources, officers had been instructed to remain deployed from 11 am to 6 pm on Friday to prevent Awami League leaders and activists from staging sudden processions. However, at around 3:30 pm, Nazrul Islam discovered that some officers were inside the station instead of being on the ground.

Following the incident, the three officers were withdrawn, with AC Mehedi Hasan attached to DMP headquarters.

Police activity has intensified in the field since the DMP Commissioner’s directive last week warning that officials in areas where Awami League processions take place would face disciplinary action.
