Dhaka, Sep 26 (V7N) – At least six students involved in the anti-discrimination movement were injured in an attack in Uttara late Thursday night.
The incident occurred around 11 pm on the road next to the central playground of Uttara Sector 18.
Mobile phone footage from the scene shows a group of men armed with country-made weapons assaulting several individuals. It was later confirmed that the victims were students who had been actively participating in the anti-discrimination movement.
The injured students alleged that leaders and activists of the Chhatra League had been issuing threats prior to the attack. They claimed that Thursday night’s assault was carried out by those same individuals.
Demanding immediate justice, the students called for the swift arrest of those responsible.
Security forces arrived at the location in the early hours of Friday. Around 4:30 am, an army patrol team visited the scene and assured cooperation with police efforts to identify and detain the attackers.
