In the 24-hour period leading up to Tuesday morning, Bangladesh did not report any new deaths from dengue, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). However, 34 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country due to the viral fever.
Among these patients, five were hospitalized in Dhaka, with the remaining cases occurring outside the capital. Currently, there are 87 patients receiving treatment for dengue in hospitals nationwide.
Since January 1, 2024, a total of 1,839 dengue cases have been reported. Last year marked the deadliest year on record for dengue in Bangladesh, with 1,705 fatalities. The DGHS recorded a staggering 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries in 2023.
September 2023 stood out as the deadliest month of the outbreak, witnessing 396 fatalities and 79,598 reported cases, according to DGHS data.
