Dhaka, Sep 25 (V7N)-  Monsoon rains have spread across Bangladesh, with the Meteorological Department warning of very heavy downpours in some regions. A low-pressure system over the west-central Bay of Bengal and the northwest Bay of Bengal is impacting the country, extending its influence as far as Assam.

The weather forecast indicates light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds across most of the eight divisions. Some areas may experience intense rainfall. Coastal regions are under rough sea conditions, with ports advised to hoist local warning signal number three and river ports to display warning signal number one.

In the capital, Dhaka, rains began early in the morning, intensifying around 9 a.m. This caused significant disruptions for school, college students, and office-goers. Dimla in Nilphamari recorded the highest rainfall at 107 mm over the previous 24 hours.

The highest temperature in the country was recorded at 36°C in Netrakona, while Koira in Khulna had the lowest at 24.3°C. The rains are expected to continue, and residents are advised to take precautions due to the weather conditions.
