Dhaka, Oct 23 (V7N)— The deep depression over the East Central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm, named 'Dana', moving in a west-northwestward direction. As a result, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued special notice No. 4, advising four seaports to raise remote warning signal number 2.

As of Wednesday morning, the cyclone's center was located approximately 695 km south-southwest of Chittagong, 620 km south-southwest of Cox's Bazar, 695 km south-southeast of Mongla, and 645 km south-southeast of Payra port. The storm is expected to continue its trajectory and intensify further.

The maximum sustained wind speed near the center of the cyclone has been recorded at 62 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 88 km/h. The sea remains highly turbulent in the vicinity of the storm.

In light of the situation, authorities have advised all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay of Bengal and the deep sea to stay close to the coast and remain prepared to take shelter at short notice.
