Panchagarh, Nov 30 (V7N) — The mercury has begun to dip in Panchagarh as cold mountain winds from the north sweep through the region. The district is now enveloped in dense fog from late night to morning, and the chill has residents shivering in the onset of winter.
On Saturday at 6 a.m., the Tentulia Class I Meteorological Office recorded the season’s lowest temperature at 10.4 degrees Celsius, a drop from 11.4 degrees on Friday, according to Senior Observer Jitendranath Roy.
The colder weather has led to a rise in winter-related illnesses. Local hospitals, including Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital and Tentulia’s 50-bed facility, are seeing an influx of patients, particularly children and the elderly, suffering from cold-induced ailments like cough, asthma, and pneumonia.
“The minimum temperature of 10.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Tentulia this morning,” said Jitendranath. He added that both day and night temperatures are likely to continue decreasing, with the severity of winter expected to intensify.
Residents are urged to take precautions, especially vulnerable groups, as the cold deepens in the coming days.
