A trough of low pressure, an elongated area of lower atmospheric pressure, is currently situated over West Bengal and extends to the North Bay of Bengal, crossing the southwestern part of Bangladesh. The Southwest monsoon has advanced up to the Cox's Bazar coast of Bangladesh, and conditions are favorable for its further progression.
Looking ahead, a low-pressure area is anticipated to form over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas around May 27, 2025. This developing low-pressure system is expected to influence monsoon intensification and progression.
