According to Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Bangladesh requires a staggering US$ 534 billion by 2050 to combat the impacts of climate change. The minister stressed the critical need for international financial support to implement climate plans effectively.
Addressing a technical session of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Expo 2024 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury reiterated Bangladesh's commitment to collaborative efforts with international partners to enhance climate resilience.
The second day of the NAP Expo 2024 focused on advancing Bangladesh's National Climate Plans, with discussions centered on the country's adaptation strategies.
Minister Saber Chowdhury underscored the government's unwavering dedication to climate adaptation efforts, emphasizing the importance of proactive measures, collaborative initiatives, and innovative solutions in mitigating the challenges posed by climate change.
He commended Bangladesh's significant progress in developing and implementing national climate plans, highlighting the country's leadership in climate adaptation on a global scale.
Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Secretary of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change, chaired the session, which also featured contributions from key stakeholders including Malik Fida A Khan, Executive Director of the Centre for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS), AKM Sohel, Additional Secretary of the Economic Relations Division, Dr. M Asaduzaman, a climate specialist, and Mirza Shawkat Ali, Director of Climate Change and International Convention at the Department of Environment (DoE).
