Patuakhali, Sep 15 (V7N) - Kalapara in Patuakhali continues to experience heavy rainfall due to the influence of a deep land depression. The local weather office reported 221.7 mm of rainfall over the past 24 hours as of 9 AM on Sunday. The relentless rain has caused significant disruption to daily life, with waterlogging in various low-lying areas. Numerous fish farms, ponds, and Aman paddy fields have been flooded, leaving farmers of Aman paddy and monsoon vegetables deeply concerned.
Additionally, the Bay of Bengal near Kuakata has become increasingly rough due to the depression, causing river levels to rise above normal. Wind pressure has also increased significantly, prompting fears of strong winds along the coast. As a result, maritime ports, including Payra, have been instructed to maintain cautionary signal number 3. All fishing vessels have been advised to remain in safe harbor until further notice.
