Dhaka, Nov 28 (V7N) – Tapashee Tabassum Urmi, a suspended assistant commissioner from Lalmonirhat, was granted bail today by a Dhaka court in connection with a defamation case.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Imran Ahmed approved Urmi's bail on a Tk 500 bond after her lawyer submitted the petition. Urmi appeared in court around 10:30 am through legal representation, while the plaintiff's counsel, Khademul Islam, opposed the bail plea.

The case was filed on October 8 by Abu Hanif, Member of the Higher Council and Media Coordinator of Gano Odhikar Parishad. Hanif accused Urmi of making defamatory remarks about the martyrs of the July-August uprising, including Abu Saeed, in a Facebook post dated October 5.

Following the submission of Hanif's complaint, the court summoned Urmi to appear on November 28 after recording and reviewing the case details.

The statement further alleges that Urmi's Facebook post contained offensive comments about Abu Saeed and Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
