Dhaka, Nov 03 (V7N)- A defamation case has been filed against National Citizens Party (NCP) chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari over his recent remarks about Dhaka Metropolitan South Jubo Dal member secretary Rabiul Islam Nayan.
The case was filed on Monday (November 3) by youth leader Kazi Mukituzzaman at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Dhaka.
According to the case statement, following the fall of the former government on August 5, Nasiruddin Patwari has been allegedly spreading false, fabricated, and defamatory propaganda on social media and in the press, targeting the BNP, its leadership, and activists with the intent to damage their reputation and social standing.
The complaint cited a remark made by Patwari on November 1, where he said:
“A big group is hooliganizing over the July charter. There is a leader in Dhaka metropolis, Nayan — and even with the amount of extortion and corruption he alone has committed, a referendum is possible in Bangladesh. We have been trying to cleanse them with Zamzam water for so long, their heads have not been cleansed, their bodies have not been cleansed — now I think they have to be cleansed with Buriganga water.”
The plaintiff claimed that such comments are defamatory and tarnish the image of the youth community, including the BNP.
