Dhaka, Dec 11 (V7N) — Three former DUCSU leaders, including former General Secretary Sadiq Kayem, have provided statements to the tribunal’s investigation officer regarding the July–August student protests. The statements were recorded on Thursday.

The other two DUCSU leaders who gave statements are Cultural Secretary Mosaddek Ali and Transport Secretary Asif Abdullah.

After giving his statement, Sadiq Kayem alleged that former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Maqsud Kamal, in coordination with Sheikh Hasina, instructed police, Chhatra League, and Jubo League activists to launch attacks on students during the protests. He further claimed that a section of the interim government and some DU teachers are attempting to secure a “safe exit” for those involved. Kayem demanded that Sheikh Hasina and the other accused individuals be brought back to the country and face trial.

Meanwhile, International Crimes Tribunal-1 has fixed December 18 for framing formal charges against Sheikh Hasina and Ziaul Ahsan in the disappearance case.
