Dhaka, Dec 22 (V7N) — An additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Dhaka has ordered a travel ban on Faisal Karim Masud, also known as Rahul Daud, the primary accused in the murder case of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha. The order was issued on Sunday, December 21, following a petition by the case’s investigation officer.
Inspector Faisal Ahmed of the Detective Branch (DB) Motijheel Zone filed the petition, requesting legal measures to prevent the accused from leaving the country. The petition stated that intelligence reports suggested Faisal Karim Masud might flee abroad at any moment. To ensure his arrest if he attempts to escape, it is crucial to restrict his exit through land, sea, and air ports.
The murder case stems from the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi on December 12 at Box Culvert Road, Paltan, where assailants shot him while he was riding a motorcycle. Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber of Inqilab Mancha filed the attempted murder case at Paltan Police Station on December 14. After Hadi’s death on December 18, the case was upgraded to a murder case.
Additional Inspector General of Police Khandakar Rafiqul Islam noted that reports of the main suspect, Faisal Islam, fleeing to India might be a publicity tactic. He stated that the suspect’s exact whereabouts remain unconfirmed, and investigators are actively tracking him through multiple channels.
