Sylhet, August 24 — Former Supreme Court Appellate Division Judge AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik faced a hostile reception as he was brought to Sylhet Judicial Magistrate Court-1, presided over by Judge Alamgir Hossain. The incident occurred on Saturday at around 4:10 pm.

Eyewitnesses reported that as Manik was escorted into the courtroom, a crowd threw eggs and shoes at him. Some individuals in the crowd also attempted to physically attack the former judge. However, police intervened quickly, tightening security to safely escort Manik into the courtroom.

This chaotic scene unfolded a day after Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel arrested Manik on Friday night. He was apprehended while allegedly attempting to flee to India illegally via the Dana border in Kanighat upazila, Sylhet.

Following his arrest, BGB personnel handed Manik over to Kanighat police station on Saturday. The police confirmed that a case has been filed against him. The details of the charges have not been disclosed yet, but the situation has sparked significant public and media attention due to the dramatic circumstances surrounding his attempted flight and subsequent arrest.
