Narsingdi, Aug 24 (V7N) - In Narsingdi, a lawsuit has been filed against 81 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with the killing of Azizul Mia, a vendor who was fatally injured during the anti-discrimination student protests. The case, which includes charges under the murder and explosives laws, also names former Minister of Communications Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and former Inspector General of Police and Narsingdi Sadar MP Nazrul Islam Hiru, among others affiliated with the Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League.
The complaint was submitted on Thursday, August 22, to the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Nahid Niazi by Almas Mia, the victim's father. The case lists 81 named individuals and includes 400-500 unnamed suspects.
According to the case details, on July 18, Azizul Mia was present at the district jail road in Narsingdi during the student protests. During the demonstration, the accused allegedly threw grenades and fired weapons indiscriminately, hitting Azizul multiple times. He was initially taken to the district hospital but was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on July 22 at 1 am.
Advocate Kazi Nazrul Islam, representing the plaintiff, confirmed that the victim's father has named former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 80 others in the lawsuit. The judge has directed the Officer-in-Charge of the Sadar Model Police Station to file the case as an FIR.
