Dhaka, Sep 22 (V7N) – Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSaD) President and former Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Bangladesh Workers Party (BWP) President and former Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, and former IGP Abdullah Al Mamun were shown arrested on Sunday in connection with the murders of Ramiz Uddin and Md Tahidul Islam.
The arrests were made following cases filed with Tejgaon police station in Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain granted the request from the investigating officer, ordering the arrests earlier today.
According to case documents, on August 4, Ramiz Uddin Ahmad was fatally shot in the Tejgaon area while participating in a protest rally as part of the anti-discrimination movement. His father, AKM Rakibul Hasan, lodged a case on September 7 against Sheikh Hasina and 222 others at Tejgaon police station.
In a related incident, Md Tahidul Islam, a student at Kabi Nazrul Government College, was killed in the same area on August 4 during the movement. His brother, Md Tariqul Islam, later filed a case against Sheikh Hasina and 47 others at the same police station.
Since their arrest, Inu, Menon, and Mamun have been remanded multiple times in connection with these murder cases.
