Dhaka, Oct 17 (V7N)- A court has imposed a travel ban on former army chief Aziz Ahmed and his wife, Dilshad Nahar Kakoli. The order was issued on Thursday by Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Assamas Jahangir Hossain, following a request from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC Deputy Director Zakaria had filed a petition seeking the travel ban, and during the hearing, ACC Public Prosecutor Mahmood Hossain Jahangir presented the arguments. After reviewing the case, the court granted the request.
The petition highlighted allegations against Aziz Ahmed, accusing him of abuse of power, irregularities, and corruption, which led to the accumulation of assets beyond his known sources of income. The allegations also include money laundering via banks and hundis to fund business ventures and purchase property in Malaysia, Singapore, and Dubai.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather necessary documents and information.
