Ukhiya, Aug 21 (V7N) - At the Farir Bil border in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) successfully confiscated a large cache of contraband and firearms. The operation occurred on Tuesday night around 11:30 PM in the Farir Bil border area of Palongkhali Union.

The BGB reported the seizure included 100,000 yaba tablets, two foreign-made pistols, one locally-made single-barrel gun, and 25 rounds of ammunition. No suspects were apprehended during the operation.

The details were confirmed in a press release by BGB's spokesperson, Shariful Islam. Lt. Colonel Abdullah Al Mashrooqi, the Commander of the Cox’s Bazar Battalion (34 BGB), affirmed the information. He explained that, following a tip-off, BGB personnel were stationed at the Farir Bil border. At approximately 11:30 PM, drug traffickers attempting to enter Bangladesh from Myanmar on foot were intercepted by the BGB patrol.

Noticing the BGB’s presence, the traffickers abandoned their bags and fled back towards Myanmar through the jungle. The BGB patrol then searched the abandoned bags, recovering the yaba, pistols, the homemade pipe gun, and ammunition.
