Rangamati, Sep 26 (V7N)- The leaders of the Betbunia Union branch of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Kaukhali Upazila held a press conference on Wednesday afternoon to address and protest what they described as false propaganda against their leaders and activists. The press conference was organized at the Kaukhali Press Club, where Haji Omar Farooq, Acting President of the No. 1 Betbunia Model Union BNP, read a written statement denouncing the spread of misinformation.

In the statement, Haji Omar Farooq condemned the continuous defamatory news published on September 23, 24, and 25, accusing Kaukhali Upazila BNP members of extortion. Farooq stated that these false claims were damaging to the party's image and integrity. He also revealed that a legal notice had been sent to the person responsible for spreading the false accusations, aiming to seek redress for the damage caused.

The BNP leaders claimed that these allegations were part of a broader conspiracy by "fallen fascist forces" to hide their corruption and misdeeds over the past 16 years. According to Farooq, these forces were attempting to divide the BNP by using individuals within the party in exchange for money, furthering their own agenda.

The press conference also highlighted the role of the media, referring to it as the "fourth pillar of the state," and criticized certain outlets for publishing unverified and biased reports. Farooq urged journalists to uphold ethical standards, verify their information, and provide accurate, objective news in the future.

The BNP leaders expressed strong condemnation of the recent media reports and warned that they would take legal action to protect the reputation of the party and its members. They called on the public and the media to avoid being misled by baseless allegations and to focus on the real issues at hand.
