Kurigram, Oct 08, V7N -esidents of Nageshwari in Kurigram formed a human chain on Tuesday afternoon to raise awareness and demand action against the erosion of the Dudhkumar River. The protest took place on the banks of the river in Velkarchar village, located in Ballaverkhash union. Villagers, along with local representatives such as Ballaverkhash Union Chairman Abdur Razzak and UP members Mohammad Ali and Habibur Rahman, participated in the demonstration.
During the protest, speakers highlighted the severe impact of the river's erosion over the past month, which has resulted in the loss of more than 150 homes and hundreds of acres of crop land in Velkarchar and Rahman villages. They expressed concerns about the ongoing threat to numerous other homesteads in the area and called on authorities to take immediate action to prevent further damage and protect the affected communities from the rapidly worsening erosion.
