Habiganj, Oct 26 (V7N)- A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrol team from the Dharamghar Border Outpost (BOP) apprehended five individuals, including two suspected human traffickers, for illegally entering Bangladesh from India through the Dharamghar border in Madhavpur upazila, Habiganj.

The arrest occurred at around 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Santoshpur border. Those detained include three individuals from different districts who allegedly crossed the border seeking work: Md. Sabur Miah (27) from Bahadur village in Jessore’s Sharsha upazila, Md. Machum Miah (30) from Sonadanga Sadar in Khulna, and Md. Sumon Miah (30) from Charhogli Baniapara in Bagerhat's Moralganj. The alleged human traffickers were identified as Md. Imon Mia (29) from Malanchpur in Madhavpur and Sohrab Hossain (42) from Bara Badura village in Moralganj, Bagerhat.

According to Md. Roup, Commander of Dharam BOP, the three laborers entered India legally through the Benapole border to work as masons but were illegally smuggled back into Bangladesh by Imon Mia and Sohrab Hossain. They were intercepted during the crossing.

In response to this incident, Lt. Col. Farah Mohammad Imtiaz, Commander of Sarail 25 BGB, emphasized that border patrol has been intensified to counter illegal infiltrations and smuggling activities.
