Rajshahi, Dec 10 (V7N)- The chill of winter has deepened in Rajshahi since Monday, leaving residents grappling with cold weather intensified by rain and fog. The sun remained hidden throughout Monday, and although it appeared briefly on Tuesday afternoon, fog and drizzle compounded the winter's grip on the city.

According to the Rajshahi Meteorological Observatory, Monday’s minimum temperature was recorded at 12.3°C, with a maximum of 19.2°C. On Tuesday, the minimum temperature rose slightly to 14°C, but the perceived intensity of cold remained high. In contrast, Sunday had recorded a lower minimum temperature of 11.2°C and a maximum of 26.2°C, showing a clear shift in weather conditions.

Anwara Khatun, a meteorological assistant at the observatory, remarked, "The temperature is expected to remain at this level, with a possibility of slight decreases in the coming days."

Residents reported dense fog covering the city since Monday evening, significantly reducing visibility and slowing down traffic on roads and highways. Similar conditions persisted through Tuesday morning, exacerbating the chill before the sun emerged later in the day.

Despite the harsh weather, low-income residents in Rajshahi have not yet received any government-provided winter clothing. District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Salah Uddin Al Wadud confirmed that the allocation of winter clothing has not been received. "We will distribute winter clothes as soon as the allocation arrives," he assured.

As the cold wave continues, many residents hope for timely intervention to support vulnerable communities during the harsh winter months.
