Jhalokathi, Jan 09, (V7N) – In an effort to support the less fortunate during the winter, the District Administration and Jhalokathi Press Club jointly organized a blanket distribution event on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
At the event held at the Press Club hall at 11:30 AM, over a hundred cold-stricken individuals received blankets. The event was attended by the Chief Guest, District Commissioner Ashraful Rahman, along with other distinguished guests, including Superintendent of Police Ujjwal Kumar Roy, Additional District Commissioner Md. Kawsar Hossain, and Press Club General Secretary Advocate Akkas Sikder.
District Commissioner Ashraful Rahman emphasized, “This government encourages humanitarian work, and we are implementing these initiatives on the ground level. We have received 3,000 blankets from the Prime Minister’s Office and distributed them to those in need, especially to orphanages, shelters, and schools.”
He further added, “It is very difficult for low-income families to buy blankets. During this cold season, many illnesses spread due to the drop in temperature, and that is why these winter clothes are crucial in protecting public health.”
The event marked a significant effort by the local administration and press club to support the community during the harsh winter season.
