Rangamati, Mar 07 (V7N) - Jamaat-e-Islami organized an Iftar Mahfil and discussion on the significance of Ramadan and Zakat at a private restaurant in Rangamati town on Thursday (March 6). The event was attended by political and religious leaders from various backgrounds.

Jamaat’s central Majlish-e-Shura member and Chittagong regional team member Muhammad Zafar Sadiq was the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he said, "No political party is our enemy. We consider everyone a friend." He urged unity in building a corruption-free Bangladesh and emphasized the importance of moral and spiritual purification during Ramadan.

"The Quran benefits all of humanity. Ramadan helps purify our hearts, enabling us to refrain from wrongdoing and injustice," he stated. He stressed that fasting should strengthen faith and encourage piety, adding that the Quran must be understood, not just recited.

On the topic of Zakat, he remarked, "Zakat is not an act of kindness; it is an obligation. It is mentioned right after prayers in Islamic teachings. Every capable Muslim must give Zakat as per Sharia."

The special speaker at the event was Professor Dr. Gias Uddin Talukder, Chairman of the Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh. The special guest was Advocate Mokhtar Ahmed, Jamaat's MP candidate for Rangamati-299 constituency.

The event was presided over by District Jamaat Ameer Professor Muhammad Abdul Alim and moderated by Secretary Mansurul Haque. Former district Jamaat secretary Hasemul Haque Khandaker delivered the welcome speech, while Professor Jahangir Alam, Nayeb-e-Ameer of District Jamaat, also addressed the audience.

The event was attended by scholars, Chhatra Shibir leaders, and Jamaat activists. The program began with a recitation from the Quran by the late Abul Bashar, followed by a concluding speech and prayers by District Jamaat Ameer Professor Abdul Alim, who prayed for the welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
