Pabna, Mar 7 (V7N) - A mobile court in Pabna has sentenced three individuals to one month of simple imprisonment for illegally extracting sand. The verdict was delivered during an operation conducted on Friday, March 7, at around 2:00 PM in the Char Ashutoshpur Khatkhati area of Pabna Sadar upazila.

The operation was led by Mohammad Murad Hossain, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Pabna Sadar upazila.

The convicted individuals are Abdullah (30), son of Joyen Uddin Pramanik from Bhadara village, Ariful Islam (30), son of Bonder Ali Biswas from the same village, and Rinku (28), son of Dulal from Pakshi area of Ishwardi upazila.

Abdullah and Ariful were excavator operators involved in the sand extraction, while Rinku was the driver of the vehicle transporting the sand.

Murad Hossain, who led the operation, stated that there had been ongoing complaints about a group of people illegally extracting sand in the area. Following the investigation, the three individuals were apprehended, and the mobile court sentenced them to one month of simple imprisonment. They have been sent to jail.

Hossain also assured that efforts to curb illegal sand extraction in the area will continue with further operations.
