Savar, Mar 08 (V7N) - A man named Nurul Amin has been accused of raping a woman and embezzling Tk 5 lakh from her in Ashulia, Savar, under the pretext of marriage. The victim, who hails from Bagerhat district, filed a complaint with the Ashulia police station on March 8. According to the victim, she had a romantic relationship with Nurul Amin for about five years, during which he promised to marry her and brought her to Dhaka. They lived together as a couple for three years, during which Nurul borrowed Tk 5 lakh from her to start a car business but then went into hiding after taking the money.

On March 5, the victim discovered that Nurul Amin was operating a business in Gohail Bari Bazar in Ashulia. When she confronted him and demanded the return of her money, he refused and threatened her with violence. After seeking help through various channels without success, she decided to formally report the incident to the police on March 7.

Nurul Amin is known to run a rice mill and engage in other businesses, but he has a history of violence and anti-social behavior. Despite efforts to contact him via phone and visit his business establishment, he has remained unreachable. Ashulia Police Station Sub-Inspector Omar Faruk confirmed that a complaint has been filed and indicated that an investigation would be conducted by the Beat Officer of the area.

The case highlights ongoing issues surrounding women's safety and justice in Bangladesh, as victims often face significant barriers in seeking redress for crimes committed against them. Authorities are expected to take necessary actions as per the law to address this serious allegation.
