Rajshahi, Mar 14 (V7N) - Advance ticket sales for Eid-ul-Fitr train journeys began at 8 AM on March 14. Tickets for all intercity trains under the West Zone of Bangladesh Railway were available for booking. In just the first nine minutes, the majority of tickets were sold, with only a few still available for select trains online. Within this short period, 15,773 tickets were booked, while the website recorded an overwhelming 2 million hits.
By 9 AM, a review of the railway ticketing website showed that tickets for trains heading towards Rangpur, Gaibandha, and Kurigram were completely sold out. However, a few tickets for Panchagarh, Lalmonirhat, Parbatipur, and Rajshahi-bound trains were still available at that time. Eventually, almost all tickets were taken. The March 14 sales were for journeys on March 24.
Sujit Biswas, Chief Commercial Officer of West Zone Railway, stated that ticket sales commenced as scheduled at 8 AM on March 14. Due to high demand, most tickets were quickly sold out. However, he confirmed that the ticketing process ran smoothly without any disruptions or complaints.
The advance ticket sales will continue in the following days as per schedule:
March 15: Tickets for March 25
March 16: Tickets for March 26
March 20: Tickets for March 30
