RangamatiP, Mar 14 (V7N) - Police have recovered the body of a man named Mongri Rakhine from Kaptai Lake in Rangamati. The floating body was found on Friday (March 14) noon near a sawmill area in Reserve Bazar, Gitashram Colony of Rangamati town.

Eyewitnesses reported spotting a body floating in the lake and immediately informed the police. As the news spread, a large crowd gathered at the scene. Later, Mongri Rakhine’s family members arrived and identified the body.

According to the family, he had been missing for two days. After failing to locate him, they filed a missing person report at Rangamati Kotwali Police Station. On Friday morning, his body was found floating in Kaptai Lake.

Following the discovery, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Md. Shahed Parvez and Second Officer Md. Sohag Chowdhury of Rangamati Kotwali Police Station visited the scene. With assistance from locals, the police recovered the body and sent it to Rangamati Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Authorities confirmed that Mongri Rakhine had been missing since the night of March 13, and his family had been searching for him before filing a missing persons report. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of death.
