Pabna, Mar 30 (V7N)– A seven-year-old child was allegedly raped by a neighbor, Golzar Hossain (50), in Sheikhpara Mohalla, Pabna Bera Municipality, leading to significant community backlash, including arson and the accused's arrest.

"A neighbor named Golzar Hossain (50) has been accused of raping a seven-year-old child in Sheikhpara Mohalla of Pabna Bera Municipality," a local police report confirmed.

The incident occurred around 6 PM on Saturday, March 29, as the child was returning home.

"The incident took place around 6 pm on Saturday (March 29)," a local resident reported.

According to police and local accounts, Golzar Hossain lured the child into his house with the promise of money and then sexually assaulted her.

"Police and locals said that the child was returning home past the accused's house just before Iftar. Since there were no people around at that time, the accused Goljar lured the child to a room in his house and raped her, promising her ten rupees," a police spokesperson stated.

After the assault, the child returned home and informed her mother, who then took her to the Bera Upazila Health Complex. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later transferred to Pabna General Hospital.

"Later, when the child went home covered in blood and told his mother about the incident, the family members rushed the child to Bera Upazila Health Complex. Later, when the child's condition deteriorated, the doctor on duty transferred him to Pabna General Hospital," a hospital representative confirmed.

Upon learning of the assault, enraged locals attacked Golzar Hossain's house, vandalizing it and setting it on fire.

"When the incident became known, locals attacked the accused's house, vandalizing and setting it on fire," a local witness reported.

Police intervened to control the situation and arrested Golzar Hossain with the help of the community.

"Oliur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bera Model Police Station, said that police were sent to the spot as soon as the information was received. With the help of locals, the accused Golzar Hossain was arrested. The child's mother filed a case with the police station in this incident. The accused Golzar was arrested in that case and handed over to the court on Sunday afternoon," OC Oliur Rahman stated.

BNP leader Haji Mohammad Yunus Ali visited the child at Pabna General Hospital and pledged support to the victim and her family.

"Meanwhile, BNP leader Haji Mohammad Yunus Ali rushed to Pabna General Hospital to inquire about the child after the incident. He said, 'I have taken the responsibility of providing treatment to the child and legal assistance to his family. I want the accused to be given exemplary punishment. Our leader Tarique Rahman has ordered us to stand by the victim's family in such incidents. On his orders, we have stood by the child's family,'" Haji Mohammad Yunus Ali reported.
