Rajshahi, Apr 17 (V7N) – Rajshahi city experienced a welcome downpour today, receiving 11 millimeters of rain in a span of 45 minutes. The rain began at approximately 11:30 AM local time on Thursday (April 17th) and continued until 12:15 PM, bringing much-needed relief to city dwellers from the prevailing conditions.

"Md. Ramzan Ali (Rajshahi Bureau): Rajshahi received 11 millimeters of rain in 45 minutes. The rain started at 11:30 am on Thursday (April 17) and continued till 12:15 pm. The city residents have expressed relief due to this rain," reported Md. Ramzan Ali.

The day began with overcast skies in Rajshahi, obscuring the sun for an extended period. The anticipated rainfall finally arrived around 11:30 AM, resulting in a noticeable drop in temperature. According to the Rajshahi Meteorological Office, the lowest temperature recorded for the day was 23.6 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature is typically recorded around 3:00 PM local time.

"Earlier, there were clouds in the sky since morning. As a result, the sun was not visible for long. Rain started falling from those clouds around 11:30 am. The temperature dropped due to the rain. The lowest temperature of the day on Thursday was 23.6 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be recorded at 3 pm, according to the Rajshahi Meteorological Office," Ali detailed.

Latifa Helen, an observer at the Rajshahi Meteorological Office, confirmed the rainfall, stating that 11 millimeters of rain were recorded between 11:30 AM and 12:15 PM. She also indicated that continued cloud cover suggests the possibility of further rainfall in the area.

"Rajshahi Meteorological Office observer Latifa Helen said that the rain started at 11:30 am and 11 millimeters of rain fell till 12:15 pm. There are clouds in the sky and it is possible that it will rain," observer Helen noted.

The rainfall has been particularly welcomed by mango farmers in the Rajshahi region, where mango buds have recently appeared on the trees. Farmers view this rain as a significant blessing, as it is expected to protect the delicate buds from the threat of drought, reduce premature fruit drop, and ultimately contribute to a good yield. Additionally, the rainfall has alleviated the need for irrigation, providing economic relief to the farmers.

"Meanwhile, mango buds have appeared on mango trees in the Rajshahi region after the buds. Farmers are seeing the rain as a blessing at this time. They say that this has saved mango buds from the grip of drought. Mango shedding will reduce. Yields will be good. Farmers have also been saved from irrigation costs," the report concluded.

This timely rainfall offers a dual benefit, providing respite from the heat for Rajshahi residents and promising a favorable environment for the crucial mango crop in the region.
