Bagerhat, April 21, (V7N)– In a united call for climate resilience and a just energy transition, a rally and discussion meeting was held in Bagerhat on Monday morning, bringing together local organizations, youth, and civil society leaders.
The event was organized by ActionAid Bangladesh, BUET, and the Just Energy Transition Network Bangladesh, ahead of the upcoming Renewable Energy Fest 2025 to be held in Dhaka on April 23–24. The rally aimed to raise public awareness and promote community engagement on the urgent need for a sustainable, inclusive energy transition.
The rally started from Shaheed Minar Square and moved through key streets of the city, ending at the Bagerhat Press Club. It drew participation from hundreds of young people, activists, and representatives of local organizations.
The rally highlighted:
Increased use of renewable energy
Ensuring women's participation in energy transition
Climate crisis mitigation through grassroots innovation
Investment in youth-led solutions
Need for a fair and inclusive energy system
The discussion meeting was chaired by Md. Kamruzzaman, President of Bagerhat Press Club and Executive Director of ASH Bangladesh. Notable speakers included:

Various local organizations supported the event, including ASH Bangladesh, Bandhan Human Development Organization, Joar Bangladesh, Bhairab Mahila Sangstha, Bagerhat Citizens’ Committee for Environmental Protection, Ashar Alo Bangladesh, and several youth and women's groups.
Speakers stressed the need for:
Accelerating a fair energy transition
Allocating more budget for renewable energy
Implementing relevant national policies
Fostering youth innovation and participation
The event ended with a collective call to strengthen climate advocacy, build inclusive energy strategies, and ensure community-level participation in shaping a sustainable future.
