M. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, a liberation fighter from Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), has said that Chattogram was instrumental in Bangladesh's war for independence. He stressed that Chattogram not only saw months of brutal conflict but also had a significant impact on the environment in which the independence struggle took place.

Chowdhury went on to say that on February 25, 1966, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman announced the historic six-point charter in front of a sizable crowd at Laldighi Maidan in Chattogram, which was a critical turning point in the country's path towards independence. From Kalurghat Radio Station, word of the independence movement went across the country.

Flowers were laid at the Shaheed Minar on Tuesday, March 26, in honour of the magnificent Independence Day, on the grounds of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Municipal Model School and College.

The mayor voiced worries that the historical significance and accomplishments of Chattogram have not been widely known owing to insufficient study and exposure, even in the wake of actions such as Operation Jackpot, which disabled three significant Pakistani warships at Chattogram port.

He exhorted the young people to use media and research to tell the tale of Chattogram's historic involvement in the independence struggle.

Panel Mayor Gias Uddin Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Mohammad Tauhidul Islam of the CCC, and other ward councillors, officials, and staff members were present at the ceremony.
