Mongla, Dec 13 (V7N) – The Islamic Chatra Andolan Bangladesh held a protest in Mongla on Friday night against the recent shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and independent MP candidate in Dhaka. The demonstration, organized by the municipal and upazila branches of the student movement, took place across Mongla town, followed by a half-hour sit-in at the municipal market square.
Speakers at the event included Mongla Municipal President Md. Naeem Bin Rafique, General Secretary Md. Al-Amin Kazi, Upazila President Md. Farhadul Islam, Organizational Secretary Ismail Bin Abdul Aziz, and Municipal Youth Wing General Secretary Md. Wahidul Islam. They condemned the attack and demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible.
The speakers warned that if the perpetrators were not apprehended promptly, the movement would escalate, potentially leading to protests similar to the July mass movement.
The protest concluded with prayers for the swift recovery of Sharif Osman Hadi. Organizers emphasized the importance of accountability and called on authorities to ensure justice for the targeted attack.
Local sources noted that the demonstration drew a significant number of participants, reflecting widespread concern over political violence and support for democratic rights.
