Jhalokathi, Dec 16 (V7N) – A workshop focusing on development planning in Jhalokathi district and the role of the media in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election and potential referendum was held on Monday. The half-day event took place at the conference room of the Jhalokathi Deputy Commissioner’s office.
The workshop was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md. Momin Uddin, who emphasized the crucial responsibility of the media in ensuring sustainable development in the district. He said objective, responsible, and factual reporting would be vital to conducting the forthcoming national election and possible referendum in a free, fair, and peaceful manner.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need for strong coordination between the administration and the media to prevent the spread of rumors and misinformation. He noted that while highlighting positive development initiatives, the media must also responsibly report any irregularities or inconsistencies.
Journalists from print, electronic, and online media outlets participated in the workshop, alongside government officials, representatives from various professions, and local civil society members. An open discussion session addressed election-time media conduct, the importance of information verification, strategies for development-focused reporting, and key challenges facing the district.
