Ukhiya, Dec 17 (V7N) – A 15-foot-long Burmese python was released into a protected forest in Jarailtoli area of Ukhiya Sadar Beat by the Forest Department on Tuesday afternoon. The snake, estimated to weigh around 40 kilograms, was carefully handled and set free to ensure its safety and the preservation of wildlife in the region.

According to officials from the Ukhiya Forest Department, the python was initially rescued on Monday from a residential area in Maliarkul locality of Dochhori Beat within the Ukhiya Range. The rescue operation was carried out to prevent potential harm to both the local residents and the reptile.

Present during the release were Ukhiya Range Officer Abdul Mannan and Dochhori Beat Officer Imdadul Hasan Roni, who supervised the operation and ensured that the snake was safely relocated to its natural habitat.

The Forest Department emphasized the importance of protecting wildlife and raising awareness among the local community regarding the coexistence of humans and wildlife. The successful release of the Burmese python highlights ongoing efforts to conserve biodiversity in Cox’s Bazar’s protected forest areas.
