Shariatpur, Jan 08 (V7N) — A young man was killed and three others were injured in a cocktail explosion in Jajira upazila of Shariatpur early Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sohan Bepari (32), son of Delwar Bepari of Satgariya Kandi area. The incident occurred in Mulai Bepari Kandi area of Bilaspur Union in the early hours of Thursday.

Police and local residents said a loud explosion was heard from the tin-roofed house of Sagar Bepari in Mulai Bepari Kandi early in the morning. Following the blast, locals alerted the police.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found the body of Sohan Bepari lying in a garlic field adjacent to Sagar Bepari’s house. The tin house was severely damaged in the explosion. The body was later recovered by police and sent for further legal procedures.

Three others were injured in the incident and were initially given treatment locally before being transferred to Dhaka for advanced medical care, police said.

According to police, the explosion may have occurred while a cocktail was being prepared or from a cocktail stored inside the house. However, the exact cause of the blast could not be confirmed immediately.

Police said an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident, and legal action will be taken based on the findings.
