Heavy rains and upstream flow have caused rivers in Tangail to rise, flooding lower areas in four upazilas and trapping thousands of people. The Jamuna and Jhenai rivers are flowing well above their danger levels, leading to river erosion and significant disruptions.

The Tangail Water Development Board reported substantial increases in water levels, with the Jamuna River at Porabari point and the Jhenai River at Jokar Char point both flowing above danger marks. Villages in Bhuapur, Gopalpur, Kalihati, and Sadar upazilas are waterlogged, with croplands submerged and residents facing additional hazards such as snakes.

Local authorities are taking measures to address river erosion and continue monitoring the situation. Deputy Commissioner Kaisarul Islam noted that downstream water levels are rising, further affecting croplands and posing risks to additional areas.
