Mongla, Aug 27 (V7N) - Residents of Mongla have organized a human chain to call for relief from and justice against Bakul, a key figure in human trafficking, drug trade, and usury. The demonstration occurred on Tuesday afternoon along the main road near the municipal market, where participants urged authorities to intervene and bring Bakul to justice.

Victims including Nazma, Kulsum, Khadija, Jaminar, Jalil, and Amir Hossain highlighted the severe impact of Bakul’s criminal activities on their community. They reported that Bakul's actions have overwhelmed the area with drugs and that he has been trafficking impoverished women to India by exploiting their vulnerability. Additionally, Bakul has been engaged in a widespread usury operation, initially attracting people with loans and then exploiting them with exorbitant interest rates.

There have been numerous complaints and cases filed against Bakul at the local police station. Despite this, those who challenge him often face harassment and legal troubles, as Bakul reportedly retaliates with counter-lawsuits and other forms of intimidation. Many families in the Signal Tower area of the municipality are suffering due to Bakul’s actions and are now seeking relief through the intervention of the authorities.
