Barguna, Sep 09 (V7N) - A video showing former district freedom fighter commander Abdur Rashid (Kala Rashid) being assaulted by Iftikhar Alam Shaon Molla has gone viral on social media. The footage, which emerged on Sunday (September 8), has become a major topic of discussion.

The video, which quickly spread on Facebook, shows Shaon Molla, the son of former BNP district convener Mahbubul Alam Faruk Molla, attacking the elderly freedom fighter in front of the Barguna District Commissioner's (DC) office. In the 3-minute and 42-second clip, Shaon Molla is seen verbally abusing Rashid with terms like "thief" and "robber." He forcibly removes Rashid's glasses and hits him on the paved road. When Rashid attempts to retrieve his glasses, Shaon Molla slaps him on the head and neck, and continues to threaten and insult him as he departs.

Former district commander Abdur Rashid stated, "As an elderly person, I was humiliated in front of the District Commissioner's office. I have left the matter to Allah for justice."

Shaon Molla claimed that the incident occurred because Rashid had made derogatory remarks about central BNP vice-president Alhaj Nurul Islam Moni. Molla accused others of using the video of the assault for their own gain, suggesting that no one recorded the incident from the start.

Barguna District Commissioner (DC) Md. Rafiqul Islam called the incident regrettable and unacceptable.
