Oct 14 V7N-  Bangladeshi architect Mohammad Rezwan, the inventor of the floating school, has been awarded Taiwan’s Global Love of Lives Award. Since 1998, the “Chou Ta-kuan Cultural and Educational Foundation” has been giving this award, recognizing selfless contributions to humanity.

Rezwan conceived the idea of floating schools to tackle the impacts of climate change, which has been praised both domestically and internationally. As a result, he was selected as a recipient of the 27th Global Love of Lives Award in the "Medal of Achievements" category. The award acknowledges his contributions to education for underserved communities worldwide.

According to a press release from Rezwan’s founded NGO, Shidhulai Swanirvar Sangstha, Taiwan’s President, Lai Ching-te, awarded him the honor on September 27 at the Presidential Office. During the event, President Lai noted that Rezwan’s innovation has greatly benefited the world.

Rezwan was chosen by a jury of 16 members from a pool of 3,499 candidates worldwide. His floating school innovation, equipped with digital classrooms, libraries, playgrounds, and healthcare clinics, ensures education for underprivileged children.

The floating school concept has been formally recognized by various UN agencies, including UNICEF, UNEP, and UNDP. Additionally, in 2019, Rezwan was named one of the top 20 "Earth Heroes" in the renowned British book "Earth Heroes."

Rezwan's floating school innovation has been included in Bangladesh’s National Adaptation Plan and has expanded to eight countries. His organization has won 16 international awards and continues to provide education and healthcare in flood-prone areas across Bangladesh.
