Kustia, Dec 16 (V7N)- The Development Studies Department of Islamic University (IU) marked the 54th Victory Day with reverence and enthusiasm, commemorating the nation’s triumph in the historic Liberation War of 1971.

Tributes at "Mukta Bangla" Monument

Teachers and students of the department gathered to pay homage to the valiant freedom fighters by offering floral wreaths at the university’s iconic "Mukta Bangla" monument.

Present at the ceremony were:

  • Assistant Professor Atifa Kafi, Chairman of the Department
  • Assistant Professor Firoz Hossain
  • Over 100 students from the department

Significance of Victory Day

The observance reflected on the monumental struggle and sacrifices made during the nine-month-long war that led to Bangladesh's independence on December 16, 1971. Participants expressed their gratitude and respect for the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation’s freedom.

The event served as a reminder of the spirit of independence and the enduring legacy of the Liberation War.
