ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, May 9 (V7N)- Students of Islamic University (IU) blocked the Kushtia-Khulna Highway on Friday noon, demanding a ban on the Awami League.

The protest rally commenced at Bot Tola around 3:00 PM. The demonstrators then marched through various roads on the campus before blocking the Kushtia-Khulna Highway in front of the university's main gate.

During the blockade, students chanted slogans such as: "Action to action, direct action—against Awami League, direct action," "One, two, three, four—Awami League no more," and "Break the hands of Awami League."

Students voiced their demands, stating, "The interim government's first task was to ban the Awami League, which carried out the July massacre. Even after eight months, the government failed to initiate the trial of Awami League. We want the Awami League to be banned as soon as possible."

SM Sweet, a coordinator of IU, stated, "Nine months have passed, but the interim government has failed to fulfill our demand. Our demand is that the Awami League must be banned and justice ensured for Killer Hasina and her allies. The failure of the revolutionaries is that they could not submit the declaration papers yet, but the revolutionaries have not yet left the highway. Our struggle is not over. The Awami League must be banned as soon as possible."
