Dhaka, Sept 8 (V7N) – Candidates of the BNP-backed “Abid-Hamim-Mayed” panel officially took their oath to contest the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union elections. The ceremony was held on Sunday afternoon at the historic Bot Tola near the Arts Building of Dhaka University.
During the oath-taking, panel leaders expressed their commitment to uphold the traditions of Dhaka University, which they described as the century-old beacon of education and democracy in Bangladesh. They vowed to represent students’ interests, protect their rights, and ensure a free, fair, and participatory election atmosphere on campus.
Panel representatives highlighted the challenges faced by students, including accommodation issues, session jams, and the need for improved academic facilities. They promised to work toward building a campus environment that fosters inclusivity, academic freedom, and democratic values.
The oath ceremony drew significant attention on campus, with students and supporters gathering in large numbers to witness the event. Observers noted that the presence of opposition-backed candidates reflects a competitive electoral landscape in this year’s DUCSU and hall union polls, scheduled for September 9.
