Chatmohar, Sept 8 (V7N) – Parents and students of Samad Sauda Mohila Dakhil Madrasah in Chatmohar have demanded the permanent dismissal of Superintendent Abdul Wahhab, who had been temporarily suspended.
The demand was raised during a human chain organized in front of the Upazila Parishad at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Following the human chain, participants submitted a memorandum to the Upazila Executive Officer and the Secondary Education Officer. The program saw participation from over a hundred parents and numerous students of the madrasah.
On August 19, Professor Saleh Ahmad, Registrar of the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, issued a letter (No. বামাশিবো/প্রশা/পাবনা-১২৬/৮৮) directing the Madrasah Managing Committee president to reinstate Abdul Wahhab as superintendent. The move sparked outrage among parents, students, and local residents. Abdul Wahhab had previously been temporarily suspended in 2017 over allegations of misconduct and irregularities.
During the human chain, speakers including parents Saidul Islam, Kutub Uddin, Robiul Karim Golam, Abdul Motalib, Hasanuzzaman Shobuj, and student representatives V.E. Castro Sagar, Jannatul Ferdous, Sadia Khatun, and Cynthia Khatun accused Abdul Wahhab of corruption, favoritism, financial embezzlement, and discriminatory behavior toward students and teachers since joining on October 4, 2010.
Students Cynthia and Sadia also alleged that Abdul Wahhab married a female staff member following an alleged illicit relationship, further compromising the safety and reputation of female students. Parents warned that if such an individual were reinstated, they would not allow their children to continue studying at the madrasah.
The demonstrators emphasized that reinstating Abdul Wahhab would pose serious risks to the safety of female students and demanded urgent intervention from higher authorities for his permanent removal.
Chatmohar Upazila Executive Officer Musa Naser Chowdhury confirmed receipt of the memorandum and stated that the matter is under investigation and appropriate action will be taken after consultation with relevant parties.
Abdul Wahhab, when contacted, declined to comment on the allegations, saying, “I do not wish to respond. They can protest, submit memorandums, or write whatever they want; I will not make any further statements.”
