Narsingdi, Oct 14 (V7N) – Private teachers under the government’s MPO (Monthly Pay Order) program staged a work stoppage on Tuesday in Narsingdi, demanding an increase in salary and allowances along with the fulfillment of four key demands.
The demonstration took place at Narsingdi Upazila Mor, in front of the press club, where teachers from the Ideal Teachers Federation, Narsingdi District Branch, participated in the protest. After the brief work stoppage, the participants submitted a memorandum through the Deputy Commissioner of Narsingdi addressed to the Government’s Education Adviser.
The memorandum outlined their demands, which included a significant revision of the current salary structure, enhanced allowances, better job security, and recognition of professional contributions of private MPO-affiliated teachers.
The protesting teachers emphasized that their demands were reasonable and aimed at improving the overall quality of education by ensuring fair compensation and better working conditions. They also urged the government to take immediate action to address the issues faced by private educators in the district.
The protest was peaceful, and the participants returned to their institutions after submitting the memorandum, while calling on authorities to respond promptly to their demands.
