Dhaka, Jan 06 (V7N)- After multiple postponements, the Jagannath University Central Student Union (JnUCSU) and Hall Parliament elections are finally being held today, Tuesday (January 6).

Voting will begin at 8:30 am and continue uninterrupted until 3:00 pm, university authorities confirmed.

A total of 38 polling stations have been set up for the Central Student Union, while one polling station will be used for the Hall Parliament elections. According to the election schedule, there will be one polling booth for every 100 students. After voting concludes, ballots will be counted using six OMR machines.

The election process had earlier faced two postponements. The revised election date was announced on December 30 last year. However, on that very morning, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia passed away at around 6 am while undergoing treatment.

In view of the national mourning and the sensitive situation, the university authorities postponed the elections through an emergency syndicate meeting.

Later in the day, following student protests demanding a clear election roadmap, the syndicate convened another emergency meeting and announced January 6 as the final date for holding the elections.

University administration officials said all necessary preparations have been completed to ensure a peaceful, fair, and transparent election on campus.
